The chocolate pieces in our Prebiotic & Chocolate Granola are sugar-free. They are sweetened with maltitol.

What maltitol is

Maltitol is a sugar alcohol, a sweetener used in many sugar-free chocolates and sweets. It tastes similar to sugar and is used in place of it.

What to know

Sugar alcohols are not fully digested. In large amounts, maltitol can have a laxative effect, and the pack may carry a warning to that effect. A normal bowl of granola contains only a small amount.

Our advice

Eat a normal portion and notice how you feel. If you are sensitive to sugar alcohols, choose our Strawberry or Wild Berries granola instead, which have no chocolate.
